ABOUT MMA

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu  (BJJ)

A martial arts and combat sport that focuses on grappling, especially ground fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position from which to force an attacker to submit. The system is based on a modified version of traditional Japanese Jujutsu called “Jiu-do” which is based on the ideas of soft overcoming hard. In other words, a smaller, weaker person using leverage and proper technique to defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant. BJJ is also training for self defense, sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competitions. Sparring and live drilling play a major role in training and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition.

 

 

Mixed Martial Arts  (MMA):

A combat sport in which two competitors attempt to achieve dominance over one another by utilizing a wide variety of permitted martial arts techniques, including striking and grappling. MMA has also been referred to as No Holds Barred but this term is no longer considered an accurate description of the modern sport, with its formalized rules and banned techniques that have been developed for the fighter’s safety.

Get into this training program to improve technique and physique.  No sparring.  Contact with holds and bags.

Kickboxing:
Thai Kickboxing and American style are blended to create a powerful kick!  Make your legs stronger and more effective.
